The old firmware would have issues if the driver managed to set a clear key while encryption was 'enabled'. This new firmware for both wave-1 and wave-2 should not be susceptible to this type of bug any more. In case of TRX subpartition with rootfs being aligned to the flash block size it was incorrectly registered twice. It wasn't noticed before because "rootfs" alignment depends on a kernel size. It can happen though - depending on the configuration and the kernel size.
